Celebrating Success

By all measures, the most recent Fitness Retreat concluding April 5th was a huge success. We hosted guests from East to West and from North to South. Everyone arrived ready for a week of exercise, focus, mediation, and the healthiest of foods to keep us going.

The day began with a 5:30 AM sunrise meditation led by Steven; his smiling face and genuine personality easily motivated all to leap from their beds. And after the mind was set right, breakfast was served consisting of the signature PATH smoothie and a bowl of warm cereal with delicious energizing fruit. Once hiking boots were laced up and bags packed tight, we loaded the van and journeyed to our trail of the day.

Hiking proves to be a wonderful mode of exercise. To begin, everyone can participate regardless of background or current fitness level. Hiking also burns hundreds of calories per hour, helps the mind relax, and allows a unique connection with nature. Located in Marin County surrounded by 600 miles of trails, it is no mystery that hiking is the anchor for our week. There are so many parallels between being on a trail and living daily life which is why our guests can feel such a transformation in such a short period of time. I consider it a gift to be able to provide this type of experience for people – exercise for the mind and the body. In the end, hiking ties directly in with the PATH philosophy – life is about the journey not the destination.

After five hours of traversing the ups and downs, we loaded into the van and made our way back to the PATH house. Awaiting our arrival was a nutritious snack including delicious raw organic vegetables. As luck would have it, this nourishment came just in time as it enabled us to push through the afternoon exercise and yoga classes. Teresa managed to locate the inner-boxer in each and every one of us; however, it was definitely the loosey-goosey dance class that won the exercise class of the week. I suppose Fred Astaire beats Rocky Balboa every time… And of course, the afternoon yoga classes with Steven ended the day’s exercise on exactly the right note.

As welcome as all the sweat and hard work was throughout the day, the 50 minutes of massage was by far and away the winner. One could see the tension and soreness literally dissipate from bodies when each emerged from the massage table. Pouring themselves into their chairs at the dinner table, the evening was concluded with a discussion over a wonderful meal prepared by Peg and Kasey.

Midway through the week we were blessed to have Dr. Rich Stagliano of Live Fit Medicine (http://www.livefitmedicine.com/) as a special dinner guest and speaker. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed his insights on health, fitness and weight loss. And, as a bonus, he conducted a body composition analysis for each guest which provided both helpful and eye-opening insights.

All in all, it was a very special week with a combination of personalities, conversations, and transformations. To each of you who attended, congratulations on your amazing accomplishment and wishing you all the best in staying true to your commitments and progress. I look forward to seeing each of you the next time around. And to the others who might be reading this newsletter, we can’t wait to have you out soon to enjoy the wonderful 7 day retreat experience – helping you define your PATH.

Much love,
Linzi

PATH For Youth

Giving

Pure And Total Health, LLC is in the process of launching PATH For Youth. Its mission will be to help make healthy living an integral part of the daily lives of our youth and to do our best to leave them a healthier planet.

Unfortunately, the number of overweight children and adolescents has rapidly doubled and tripled over the last 20 years. Even worse, about 80 percent of them will go on to become obese as adults. Not only is our society grappling with this epidemic, but our natural resources such as the purity of our air, water and land is progressively becoming more threatened. These are two areas we feel passionate about.

Understanding that as a corporate citizen, we have the great strength and wherewithal to positively affect these trends. That is why from inception, we have made it part of the culture at Pure And Total Health to give back.

The 1% Model

Donating

Pure And Total Health will host an annual PATH for Youth Fitness Retreat For Kids. This is when we will sponsor a number of young people struggling with their weight from underserved communities and teach them about lifestyle changes such as healthy eating and exercise. We feel this is an area we can really make a difference - and have fun!

Volunteering

We are lucky to attract amazing staff members so it’s no stretch that they are natural contributors to our community. Our employees will spend 1% of their paid time volunteering for a cause of their choice.

Allocating

1% of the Pure And Total Health, LLC equity will be placed with our foundation. So as our company grows, the foundation will grow proportionately.

Looking to Partner

We are currently researching organizations within our areas of passion to help contribute to. If you think you know of an organization that may be a great fit for us, please let us know.
